Footwear Brand Brings Traditional Asian Healing to Dubai Active as Post-workout Recovery Exhibitor
Japanese massage footwear specialist Kenkoh, which uses the ancient principles of acupressure to stimulate and soothe the body, is joining Dubai Active as the event’s post-recovery exhibitor. The leading designer of post-workout sandals will play a prominent role at the Middle East’s top fitness and wellness event this October, demonstrating how traditional Asian concepts can facilitate a faster, more efficient recovery after a workout.
Kenkoh’s clinically proven footwear designs, including its dedicated post-workout sliders, feature close to 1000 rubber nodules which flex against the bottom of the feet, creating a natural barefoot experience. This promotes improved blood circulation across the entire foot – rather than in the specific pressure points created by regular footwear – to eliminate excess lactic acid and boost oxygen flow to aid recovery.
Rola Sullivan, Kenkoh Managing Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia-Pacific, says “We are thrilled to be promoting the important role that footwear plays in both prevention and recovery at the upcoming Dubai Active event, and to be able to bring the principles of reflexology to athletes around the world. We’re even more excited to demonstrate how Kenkoh effortlessly applies these traditional healing concepts into modern day designs blended with ancient philosophy.”
Sullivan touches upon the brand’s rich history here, with Founder Mr Yamanashi first translating the classic ideologies of alternative eastern therapies into practical solutions back in 1949. Recognising the notable health benefits of reflexology, the Kenkoh brand – which means ‘health’ in Japanese – was born, with the firm dedicated to health-boosting solutions since 1965.
Reflexology is a therapy that applies pressure to the feet and hands to stimulate positive physiological change across the mind and body.
What makes Kenkoh truly unique is the brand’s ability to design and manufacture powerful footwear that not only promotes recovery but reduces the physical impact of strenuous exercise in the first place. Working closely with researchers at Kyoto University in Japan, Kenkoh footwear was found to significantly reduce the occurrence of swelling around the ankles and joints to minimise foot and knee pain that is common in athletes.
Dubai Active is set to take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre between 28-30 October 2021. As the event’s premier post-workout exhibitor, Kenkoh will be inviting gym owners, trainers, and health industry professionals to learn more about the Kenkoh philosophy, join the brand’s affiliate programme, and discover the exciting partnership opportunities that are available worldwide.

Established in 1949, Kenkoh is the original home of massage footwear, engineered in Japan to the ancient principles of reflexology. The word Kenkoh translates to “health” in Japanese, and it is this philosophy that guides the brand’s designs to this day.
Kenkoh customers have also reported that Kenkoh sandals have helped relieve symptoms of various health conditions. Some of which are neuropathy, plantar fasciitis, flat feet, bunions, back pain, sciatica, arthritis, and cold feet.
