Gravity Calisthenics Cup

Format: 16-man knockout competition

Judging: Athletes will go head-to-head in 5-minute rounds, where athletes will be able to put on sets of 45-seconds. Three judges will then choose a winner from among the two based on their performances.
Athlete Registration: We will open registration for athletes mid-November. The top 16 submissions will then be chosen to compete.

Bringing together the pole and fitness industry for a day of pure beauty, art and creativity Dubai Pole Cup is the Middle Easts first and only pole competition. Bringing together the pole and fitness industry for a day of pure beauty, art and creativity Dubai Pole Cup is the Middle Easts first and only pole competition. With over 40 international and national athletes participating in our 2017 event the Dubai Pole Cup met great success drawing in one of the largest crowds at the Dubai Muscle Show.
Pole the Sport – Pole combines elements of gymnastics, dance and acrobatics requiring a broad skill set and great physical and mental exertion. The athlete has to have tremendous amounts of strength and endurance in order to deadlift, hold and spin the body. A high degree of flexibility is needed to contort, post, demonstrate lines and execute techniques through gravity defying tricks.
The Dubai Pole Cup offers a choice of 5 categories for its athletes.

FITNESS CHALLENGES

Dubai Active Show will be full of exciting and fun challenges for visitors to get involved in and win prizes. Taking place both on exhibitor stands and our Main Stage, visitors can compete against each other in a range tests of fitness, including Kettlebells, Burpees, Pull-ups, Push-Ups, and more. We even have protein cookie competitions for those who can stomach it!

HEALTHY RUNNING WORKSHOP BY TRUEFORM RUNNER

HealthFit U is for health and endurance professionals and enthusiasts focus on the energetics of running, running skill, injury evaluation and treatment, and nutrition for health and performance.

The course is evidence-based with numerous case scenarios, active drills and exercise, and practical workshops to apply concepts. Day one include the anthropological basis of running, aerobic development, recovery principles and practice, overtraining syndrome, coordination and peaking, nutrition for health and performance, drills, and manual therapy. The day also addresses medical issues for runners, including heat illness, cardiac, physiology, and emerging concepts in nutrition for health and performance.

Day two examines the injured runner, biomechanics, and evaluation of mobility and strength. The workshop assesses running from a clinical perspective, prescription of strength, mobility, and gait cues based on specific findings. Stability, core work, mobility, and stretching principles are addressed. The role of footwear on runners is examined, including the evolution of running shoes, design, technology and the relationship to injury. The afternoon workshop addresses strength training, a range of motion/mobility and motor function. We will use the innovative TrueForm Runner in our sessions.

Variations of this course have been presented for Continuing Medical Education at Universities and
Sports Performance facilities all over the US and Internationally, the Pentagon, the Andrews Institute in Florida, and at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. Staff have presented selected course content at over 50 military bases and numerous medical conferences and teaching universities internationally. Dr. Maffetone has published over 20 books on health and sports science and Dr. Cucuzzella just released his book “Run for Your Life” which focuses on all aspects of achieving a life with health and pain-free running.

Goals & Objectives :
After this course, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss the pathophysiological process behind running mechanics and injuries
  • Recognize the relationship between running biomechanics and the risk of injuries.
  • Understand the basics of return to running after an injury.
  • Discuss the science behind running shoe technology, plantar orthoses, flexibility and strengthening and the prevention of running injuries.
  • Discuss the science and practical application of aerobic development, speed training, and periodization.
  • Describe the principles and be able to teach efficient running form including supplemental drills.
  • Evaluate movement dysfunction and provide simple corrective measures.
  • Describe practical gait analysis, cues, and corrections.
  • Discuss nutrition for health and performance.
  • footwear to complement movement pattern and how to safely transition to more functional footwear.
